robots.txt includes a ChatGPT-User block (user-triggered fetch preference)

ChatGPT-User is used for certain user-triggered actions when ChatGPT or a Custom GPT visits a web page. OpenAI says it is not an automatic web crawler, is not used to determine Search inclusion, and robots.txt rules may not apply because the requests are initiated by users. This check found a robots.txt rule naming ChatGPT-User.

Why this matters

Treat this as a stated access preference, not proof that ChatGPT users cannot open the page and not a ChatGPT Search ranking or inclusion signal. OAI-SearchBot is the relevant robots.txt control for ChatGPT Search.

How to fix it

If you want your robots.txt to express a permissive preference for ChatGPT-User, remove the Disallow rule. Do not rely on this rule to control ChatGPT Search, and do not assume it will block every user-triggered request. Use OAI-SearchBot for Search opt-out decisions.
