Pages missing meta description

A meta description is a short summary (around 150 characters) that appears beneath your page title in Google search results. It does not affect rankings directly but it is the first thing a searcher reads after the title.

Why this matters

Without a meta description, Google writes its own - often pulling an awkward sentence from somewhere on the page. A well-written meta description increases the number of people who click through to your site from search results.

How to fix it

Write a unique, clear meta description for each page summarising what the page is about and what visitors will find. If your site uses a platform such as WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify or Wix, look for a dedicated meta description or SEO field in its page settings, as the location varies by platform.
